Amy Chadney is a fine artist and illustrator currently living in Boise, Idaho. While growing up in rural England Amy had the unusual perk of living in the grounds of large mansion like houses, akin to Downton Abbey. These incredible houses were filled to the brim with awe inspiring portraits, shimmering gilt frames and ornate furniture that captured this little girls heart. In future trips to Europe she was entranced by tall marble galleries showing paintings of beautiful, mesmerizing and strong women swathed in gold and pattern. All of this combined with childhood fairy tales of folklore, myth and legend have woven together with studies of historically great women to bring about the style that Amy is creating and investigating today. Amy's process starts when something 'bites' her and she can't get it out of her head. After much daydreaming, talking to herself and some research, she finds a way to express her thoughts.  Through a variety of media including graphite, inks and acrylics, Amy creates the dynamic layers, vivid colors, textures and images that she is known for. Her paintings, almost exclusively female portraits and figures, are rich with pattern and color reminiscent of the Art Deco and Art Nouveau movements. The arts have always been Amy's first love. Unable to create in a studio for many years she kept the spark alive through cooking, teaching and enjoying life and laughter with her young family. She has thoroughly enjoyed taking time over the last year to revive and regenerate her creative painting energies. Amy earned her Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Fine Art and Theatre from Chester University, UK. She has recently been featured in RAW Natural Born Artists group show March 2016, 32 Cells Historic Art Show August 2016, Boise Art Crawl October 2016 and has her art published in Makers Unwound Magazine, Fall 2016.
