Swell Artist Collective is an open studio and Art Gallery located in Boise's historic downtown. Formed in November of 2015 and managed by artists Julia GreenNoble HardestyKelly Knopp, Stuart Holland, and Victor A. Jimenez, Swell is located on the lower level of the Old Mercantile Building in Boise's BoDo district.

By combining their individual artistic practices and ideas into a common space, the five artists' mission revolves around creating a vibrant studio and gallery environment that is open to the public and intent on helping bolster the community's rapidly-growing arts culture. Swell will be host to both First Thursday and independently organized artistic events while maintaining hours of operation during which people can visit.

Toby Davis

Swell Artist Collective’s Toby Davis is an Idaho native, but has lived is several places throughout the US. He loves to travel and loves to paint, mostly landscapes and cityscapes, but really anything that catches his eye.  He’s influenced by many master painters of the past as well as many contemporary artists. For Davis, every scene is special and only exists in a fleeting moment. Lighting changes, seasons change, what is there today will be different tomorrow but painting is a way to preserve the intersection of a fleeting moment with a specific view point. He strives to create art that represents the highest achievable standards of excellence and is constantly pushing himself to obtain higher levels of quality in design and execution. Davis is a member of the Oil Painters of America, Boise's Swell Artist Collective,  and was chosen by the Idaho Power Company to create work for their upcoming centennial celebration in 2016. www.tobydavisart.com
