Swell Artist Collective is an open studio and Art Gallery located in Boise's historic downtown. Formed in November of 2015 and managed by artists Julia GreenNoble HardestyKelly Knopp, Stuart Holland, and Victor A. Jimenez, Swell is located on the lower level of the Old Mercantile Building in Boise's BoDo district.

By combining their individual artistic practices and ideas into a common space, the five artists' mission revolves around creating a vibrant studio and gallery environment that is open to the public and intent on helping bolster the community's rapidly-growing arts culture. Swell will be host to both First Thursday and independently organized artistic events while maintaining hours of operation during which people can visit.

Victor A. Jimenez

Swell Artist Collective's Victor A. Jimenez is a representational artist primarily focusing on figurative drawing and painting. Jimenez lives in Boise, Idaho where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Drawing and Painting from Boise State University. As a kid growing up in rural southern Idaho, he enjoyed reading comic books, and quickly discovered a talent for drawing comics. Inspired by an appreciation for skill and artistry, he never stopped drawing. Making comics in art class soon led to an interest in working with oil paints and painting portraits of his friends. Being a native to deserts and small towns, isolation is a frequent theme in his work, and he’s often influenced by science and philosophy, as well as the nature of the universe and the attempt to understand existence within it. His process, to a great extent, involves strategic thinking - going slow to go fast.
