It's Hard for Me. The Art of Lindsey Loch

  • Swell Artist Collective 404 South 8th Street, L105 Boise, ID, 83702 United States (map)

Lindsey Loch Retrospective at Swell Artist Collective.
This comprehensive retrospective is the first definitive exhibition of artist Lindsey Loch. Celebrating an extraordinary body of work, this exhibition illustrates Loch’s complete oeuvre from her earliest gallery shows and commercial work in Los Angeles up to her most recent paintings, ceramics and jewelry. From the outset of her career, Loch has found success as a freelance illustrator and graphic designer whose work has adorned record albums, magazines, and numerous other publications for notable clients such as Warner Brothers, Bonnie Raitt and Fleetwood Mac. But painting and being creative without the boundaries of commercial work has always been more fulfilling for Loch, who, while living in Chicago in 2005 was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. She completed treatment successfully and without further delay, followed her heart to Boise, Idaho, where she had lived years before - and had been dreaming of returning to for some time. She decided that life was too short to just dream. The title “It's Hard for Me" is about embracing difficulty with the often humorous, sometimes dark themes that run through much of her work. This exhibition tells the story of a creative spirit and a survivor, and illuminates Loch’s progress as an artist and the transformation of her visual language and style.
